About

This blog is a supplement to the JamesGilbertMusic.com website, an online sheet music and mp3 publisher. Please visit the site. This blog  contains information about music, including theory, composition, notation software like Sibelius, DAW and recording software like Reaper, Kontakt, komplete and other VST. If you have any suggestions on what you’d like to see or comments on what you’ve read, please let us know.

I have over 600 titles in the various categories on the website. As of August 2014, I have 9 albums, all available via links at the website or on iTunes, Spotify, Amazon, CD Baby, etc. Please follow me on Twitter, Facebook and Soundcloud and other social links (all listed at my website or see the article I wrote in Aug 2014).

The time and effort for this blog and all I do takes time & money. Contrary to popular belief, musicians can’t work a day job and do all I do and still be a musician. I probably make 3 or 4 times less money per year from all my sources of income (exclusively music related) than you do! Even if you’re a college student, that’s probably true. If you can, please donate to help me continue doing what I do.

Sorry, but I don’t do reciprocal links on my website or here. There’s just too many websites who would like to do that & I haven’t time to keep up with it. If you comment, please do not include links to websites in your comments or they most likely won’t be approved. Be patient with comments, it may take a week or so before I get to them.

    Hello,
I’m looking for the James Gilbert, author of several praise songs in the J’aime L’éternel hymnbook used in many French churches. Any chance that is you?

    • I’m afraid that it is not me. There is a “James M. Gilbert” that wrote a praise song “I Love you with the love of the Lord” that I’m familiar with here in US praise books. Over the past 20 years I’ve never seen any more information about him anywhere. All of the original sacred music I’ve done is instrumental music. I’ve done a large number of arrangements of sacred music for both instruments and voice. But, since I’ve never written any original lyrics, the composer you are looking for is not me. If you ever do run across information about him, I’d like to get in touch with him myself. (Given the lack of information I’ve been able to find over the years, I’m wondering if it may have been a pseudonym)?
