I’m not familiar with anything specific to music to do that. Acrobat reader comes close, scrolling the pages vertically is an option. Perhaps some of the other readers of the blog can help?

I am an amateur trumpet player and am interested in scanning books and using them either on a large screen fold-out laptop or a notepad computer, however, I’d like to be able to scroll the pages rather than turning the pages. Is there anything out there that would allow that feature?

Thanks for the ideas. I use Sibelius for notation purposes, but for midi, I use Reaper (DAW) and years ago used PowerTracks (PG Music) on the PC. I’m quite comfortable with sequence based, but not necessarily pattern based midi. I almost bought the Genome sequencer and when the need for a mobile sequencer becomes more important, I’ll probably use that.

Cubasis and other full-featured DAW’s are very good choices IF I needed the audio capability. But for just sequencing, they’re way more than I need. I can’t see paying for something I don’t need.

I found that the iRig MIDI recorder, free app from IK Multimedia (that requires the iRig MIDI interface to use) is a temporary work around. I can create my sequences at home, record into the iPad and then play the sequence back at a remote location. Until I become more familiar with the equipment I’m using (an Ahlborn-Galanti Chronicler I midi organ, Ahlborn organ classic module and Korg X5DR module) and how best to use midi with it, this work around is adequate.

There are a number of options you might want to consider. I had heard good things about the Genome midi sequencer from http://www.whitenoiseaudio.com and purchased it, sight unseen. It uses a more sequence-based recording method similar to that of FLStudio. I suspect, since you’re using Sibelius, that this probably won’t appeal to you.

Steinberg’s Cubasis for the iPad (http://www.steinberg.net/en/products/ios_apps/cubasis.html) might be another option to consider. The early reviews were crtitical (and led me to hold off on such an expensive purchase) but I’ve heard that the recent updates have addressed many of the early complaints.
